Kate and Gerry McCann: case rightly in meltdown09.18.09

Surely Kate and Gerry McCann did not kill their daughter, Madeleine. I just don’t believe that anyone could be so selfish as to sedate their child just so he or she could enjoy an evening out. Likewise it can’t be possible that they could go to the tapas bar and pretend everything was fine if they had accidentally overdosed her and she was already dead. No parent could be so cold-blooded.

I think all Kate and Gerry are guilty of is neglect. Yes, they shouldn’t have left the children alone, but how many of us have worked in a garden while a little one snoozes with the front door unlocked, or left a sleeping child in an unlocked car?

Have you?

Rocky Balboa: a completely ridiculous idea01.18.09

Am I the only one who thinks the Rocky Balboa storyline is ridiculous?  Sylvester Stalone must be atleast 60 by now. Surely the film writers didn’t really think people would believe a boxer of that age could be half decent? Has anyone watched the film?  What did you think to it?

Sensor Bin: a perfect Gift for your Man01.18.09

This is a photo of our new bin. James wanted it of course because it’s gadgety. It opens when you approach and closes when you walk away. Annie spends hours putting all our cutlery in it. I suppose its better than drawing on walls. Why not buy one? They’re good for not having to touch the dirty bin and having two hands to scrape leftovers in.

‘The Good Shepherd’ Review: Matt Damon + Angelina Jolie01.18.09

The Good Shepherd (2007, about 150 minutes) stars Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie and has short appearances by some other big stars, although I don’t know their names. Sorry.

What it’s about

Matt Damon is an unemotional CIA operative working 1940 – 1961. He marries the beautiful woman he made pregnant (Angelina) instead of the hard-of-hearing lady he loves, and is consequently unhappy. In his worklife Matt spies on the Russians then has to choose between his country and his son.

Even though it’s hard to follow, as the timeline zipps about backwards and forwards and Matt and Angelina’s appearance don’t change much, it’s nonetheless worth watching if you have a spare 150 minutes. It’s certainly not the kind of film that you can follow if you keep leaving the room to get a cup of tea, glass of wine and/ or bag of crisps. Probably it would become more clear after a second viewing, especially the sudden ending which I didn’t understand the significance of.

Let me know if you can throw any more light on what it was all about, or if you understand what the burning of the letter at the end meant?

Review: The Bourne Ultimatum starring Matt Damon09.18.07

The Bourne Ultimatum is the best film I’ve seen in ages. I like it because it’s madly exciting without being all blood and gore.

What’s it’s about

This is the third in the trilogy of Jason Bourne films. It starts exactly where the 2nd film left off – when he’s on the run from the Russians – and follows Jason on a search to find out who he is and why he’s on the run. Basically he gets himself out of every tight spot that the CIA can throw at him. The reason as to why he lost his memory isn’t very exciting, but the final sequence where he falls wounded into a river and drops like a stone certainly is. The whole cinema was on a knife-edge. Had the man of steel died? Then Jason kicked back to the surface, and the cinema erupted into cheers and clapping. I nearly cried, I was so pleased.
