Review: Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult

Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult is the most engrossing novel I have read for a long, long time.  Infact it was so ‘un-put-down-able’ that I had no option but to let the house get in to an even bigger tip than usual while I read it.  It’s one of those books that is so well written that when you actually imagine yourself as one of the characters and think what you would do in those situations.  The suprising end is extremely satisfying in that it explains the earlier action.

By page 25 a  school boy has started a shooting rampage at his high school.  In 19 minutes he murders 10 people and injures 29 more.  At this stage you think nothing could excuse his behaviour, but then the action zips back to the past and you read about how he was incessantly bullied and - incredibly - you feel a twinge of sympathy for him.
