Kids card game: War
War is a children’s card game for 2 + players, (approx age 4+ ). It can give children practice of comparing numbers and deciding which is more or less.
Aim:
to collect the entire deck of cards
Rules of play:
- shuffle and evenly deal out the cards so each player has a face-down pile
- each player turns over his top card
- the player who dealt the highest rank wins them and puts them at the bottom of his pile
- decide if ace is high or low
Variations
- instead have the lowest rank card the winner
- allow players to choose between their 2 top cards (develops strategic thinking)
- for young or learner children limit the number of players to 2
