How to prevent/ tackle Obesity in Children

There are 2 ways you can help your child to stay slim or tackle obesity: exercise and a healthy diet.   It may be obvious but an increasing number of parents are finding its an issue, so here are some ideas on exercise.

Exercise

  • be a good role model by exercising yourself and letting your child see you
  • try different sports to motivate and interest your child, ask him or her what they want to try
  • remember the childhood games that you played such as tig, and teach them to your child
  • stop using the car for short journeys and instead walk or bike
  • limit your child’s use of the TV and gameboys etc.  You’ll then be suprised how many games they can think of with just a bat, ball, frisbee and skipping rope.
